Oct. 09, 2005 @ 9:50 P.M. So I disappeared for a while - I know this, and I am sorry. Between the new job and my research project I've had close to no free time in the past two weeks. I return, however, with news for you. It's not exactly great news, but I don't exactly think it's awful news, either - just news. As of tonight, I'll no longer be updating this Diaryland blog. This does not mean the end of my Internet ramblings - far from it. Instead I will be moving to a new blog over on Blogger. The reasons for this are myriad: First, some of you might have been noticing some broken images and such on this site, and the reason why is because my Gold membership (which allows me to host images) just ran out. Given that I don't tend to update this thing more than once a week on average and I hardly ever use image hosting or all that jazz I can't really justify spending money for the Gold service anymore. A free service simply makes more sense for me. That said, in my tooling around with the Blogger system I've found that I simply find their way of doing things a little nicer. Basically over there there are a couple things like a built-in WYSIWYG editor, draft-saving capabilities, and multiple journal support that I just find to be a little more handy than the free tools provided by D-land. Granted the Gold membership outfits you with a great number of awesome tools but I just can't justify the cost anymore when I've got a college education that increasingly I myself have to pay for. So, in short, if I have to use a free service I'd rather use Blogger. If you'd like to keep reading what I have to say then please do pop over ever now and again. I'll probably be updating the new blog a bit more than this one because I don't feel as strange about posting short entries, for whatever reason. If you've decided that this is the last damn straw and that it's time for us to part ways, well, thanks for reading as long as you did. Thanks everyone for sticking with me through a full year on D-land; hopefully I'll see you on the new blog, and if not, happy trails. FIN, for reals |
